ok i have a 96 accord lx, the problem that i'm having is with the tranny. I would start up my car and put it in gear and it would run fine (fine meaning it would shift into every gear). But soon as the tranny get warm it would shift in drive but doesn't seem to want to into second, third,or fourth gear. I had the same promblem before and change the tranny and it seem to fix the problem. Then four months later the same problem happened again. Also the engine light came on and i did a self diagnostic and it had something to do with the TP Sensor (Throttle Position). The tranny also makes a funny whinning noise when i start up the car. Somebody told me that when you change a tranny your also supposed to change the tranny computer is there any truth behind that. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciate from anybody.

Your TPS can cause this issue, I've seen it with other type's of auto's.

If your dealing with issue's only happening when hot/cold, alot of times it can be a ground or a wire of some sort.
Remember, things EXPAND when the warm up. Roll with this info.

I don't know if honda is different then other manufactures, but in the early 90's, auto trannys went from being mechanical, to being controlled by the MAIN ECU. What I'm saying is your tranny is controlled by the main brain box, it doesn't have it's own.

I haven't really ran into that problem before but I have heard that if your D4 light blinks, causing a similar concern. could also be your control module. Changing trans won't affect the performance cause I actually have a 96 accord tranny in mine and didn't change anything but the flex plate Another possobility caould be that the shaft nut at the end of the trans could be coming loose which they have a bulletin for that.. No other solution that I can think of righth now..

what part of the tranny is the shaft nut on, by the block, or by the axle

I think the key symptom here is that the tranny makes a whining noise when he starts the car. This is indicative of a bad TC. Also, given that the car usually shifts OK when cold but peters out when hot also points to problems with the TC.

yea on a weird note. I was messin with my car the other day, i drove it around the block a couple of time and it seems to be runnin fine, got into every gear. I even drove it for like 45 minutes and mashed the gas a few times and it seems to runnin fine. I'm just confused now.

Not neccessarily. Just the Tourque Converter would need to be replaced.
