The best clear/lacquer?

Hey everyone. I've got some questions for you all. I've decided to paint the hood of my Turbo Type R teg gloss black. I've done that so far. I have some tamiya clear, and some krylon crystal, and, don't laugh, Rustoelum lacquer. The lacquer says it's great for metallic and regular gloss colors. I love the tamiya clear, it's very easy to work with and gives nice results. The krylon crystal, I wont use, takes 2-3days to dry, but when dry, it gives the most lucious finish. I am kinda going fast through this project, so I was wondering, my hood is gloss black by Rustoleum, and I wanted to know, IYHO, what's the best clear to go for? Would it be the tamiya, the krylon, or the rustoleum? Have any suggestions? Oh, btw, feel free to vote on the poll. Thanks.

I use Mr. Super Clear Gloss by Gunze. Both in spray and bottle form. In general I've found Gunze's line of paints to be better than Tamiya's, which is why I use their clear.

I second the Gunze/GSI Creos idea. I used to use Tamiya stuff but I use their paints exclusively now! They are all really good - paints, coats you name it. Bit hard to get hold of (from HLJ) but worth it. I prefer the bottled paints myself, they're more easy to control from an airbrush as opposed to a big fat can.
Plus they smell GOOOOOD!! LOL

Just as I love their primer, I love Floquil's Hi-Gloss clear lacquer. It's expensive stuff and sprays hotter than sulfuric acid (NEVER EVER use Floquil clear on an acrylic paint job. :nono: ) but it's thin so it doesn't build up in panel lines of on trim (remember, this stuff was formulated for the model railroad guys) and delivers a gorgeous shine.

Anything but Testors Clear. It sucks, sucks, sucks, and it well, sucks. I love tamiya clear, I think its awesome. You may also want to check out some other auto clears like PPG, Dupont, HoK, etc.

I agree with Malsheem, I use the Gunze Super clear too, mixed thin from the bottle to shoot from an airbrush.. Tamiya is good, but difficult to get, and a bit pricy..

Yea someone voted in the poll, obviously. Brought it up to the top, so I posted not even looking at the date. I hate people that resurect old threads, I dont even go past page 2, unless I am searching for something.

Gunze a.k.a. "GSI-Creos" Clear is the best. Tamiya Clear is almost just as good.

There is a lesson to be learnt here. When creating polls, use the option to set a time limit.

Anyway, plenty of good advice above so no harm in revisiting it.

Model Master is same as Testor (same compagny) But with a better can presure and nozzle.

for what I'v read, the Testor Pearl Clear is horrible.
