Recently my bonneville se sarted having some problems. I took it to the dealer and they told me a new cam sensor and pcm were in need. By the way my car is 1992 bonneville se. My question is, is the PCM the same part people upgrade when they get an aftermarket performance chip. Also is the cam sensor something I can get a high performance version of or not. If anyone can tell me where I can find a good performance chip (something affordable and that provides substantial gain) I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help.

The PCM is the computer itself, much like a motherboard (home-pc) the chip is really the only mod to do. I hear alot of good feedback about the JET chip giving a noticable difference, compared to the "Others". Someone else may be able to chime in, I have a supercharged 94 SSEi, and am happy with the power (for a "dads daily driver") so I havent put one in mine. Anybody?

Well, I don't believe the cam sensor is an upgradeable component. If a new one is needed, I imagine they just install a normal stock replacement sensor. The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) has a controller chip (powertrain/engine control & parameters) that resides on it. This I believe, is the upgradeable (jet chip) chip for enhanced performance of the engine/powertain.
