painting urethane

I need to get my urethane front bumper painted, but should I leave it off to get it painted or put it on and then get it painted? I was just wondering because I am having a friend of mine paint my kit, and I am afraid that if I get it painted and then put it on the car it might mess up the paint job. I am only worried about the front bumper because I have to stretch and pull it a little to get it on because I does not fit perfect. If anybody has any suggestions that would be great.

It's much easier to paint it with it off, you can do a better job that way anyways, paint the backside of it and get in the corners much easier.

plus, the paint (if youre using any kind of decent paint) should have enough flex in it so that it wont check or crack when you bend the bumper. as for messing it up by rubbing on something, just be careful.

Thanks for the help. I'll make sure to have the bumper painted when it is off the car.
