Can I crash at your place?
I wish I could go... too bad it's all the way in California. I would have to leave Friday and return Monday, miss class, spend more money than I have, miss work, miss an autocross, eh... if the JGTC rolls through town that weekend I'll do it.
Keep me posted on that.

It was fun, but sparse. :dunno: Master Modeler went to a diorama of the Missouri.
What was up with all the Miatas? There was like a dozen...

I finally made it to Tamiya Con today. I've always wanted to go, but something always came up. Well, I got there late today so I didn't have time to look at everything throughly. I had a great time none the less. I must admit, I expected a bigger turn out though. For those that have been to previous shows, was this less of a model turn out than usual? I thought I'd see one of every kit Tamiya made on the contest tables. Like I said though, I still had a great time. Now not only do I plan to go to next years show, I also plan to enter something.

I had no camera, so I took no pics. I usually borrow my parents' camera, but they took it somewhere for the weekend... :(
The turn out for entires seems to me like it's getting leaner each of the three years I've been. And that's across all categories. You'd think that'd help motivate me to get some models done up to the 5 model limit since the competition is getting scarce. You only have to be better than the other models entered...

I planned to take pictures, but discovered half way down there (from Long Beach) that I had left my camera at home.
Did anyone from this forum enter anything?

Hi Jay,
Good seeing you there again, agree with you, some categories a little thin (ships, 1/12 scale cars and the much beloved dinosaurs). Maybe the very heavy Saturday rain kept some folks away. It lasted almost the entire day.
Yes 2000-redrider, I entered my 1/12 scale Renault RE20 turbo. I took loads of pictures however I couldn't get them to post. I'll keep working on it.

I went out there but didn't get any pics, sorry! The story behind all the Miatas is that the San Diego Car Club had a club build of Miatas last month so we all entered them, there were about 10 of us up there. I entered mine in box stock, it was the color changing one.
As for goodies, there were lots to be had, I got the Enzo and a factory YZR 500 GP bike as well as paint and some tools.

If I can help, let me know...
I guessed the mass of Miatas must have been a group. Good to see that so many of you guys made it!! :) I remember yours, Willster. What did you use for the large "Miata" across the hood?
My only entry was in factory stock: a black WRX. :dunno:

It was pretty cool actually being up there as a group, we had a lot of fun. I saw your WRX, nice build. As regards my Mazda, I photocopied the Miata logo off the box and made a mask, then after a few coats of colorchange I removed the mask and applied one more coat to blend it in.
Shame I didn't get to meet anyone else up there, next time I'll arrange to meet more people.
