96-98 Grill Suggestions (not mesh)

I am interested in an ABS grill for a 96-98 Civic which allows me to keep the front emblem in its usual spot. My stock grill is getting discolored with age, and I figured I'd go for a new look rather than just replacing with OEM. And let me say again: I am not interested in going with mesh.

Suggestions?

There are no decent looking grills that still hold the OEM honda emblem. The only one that I have seen is a Mugen knock off with the center "pillar/fin" flattend out to hold the emblem... it looks ugly. My recomendatoin would be getting an aftermarket grill that doesnt have a place for the emblem... such as Mugen or Feels... those arent like the civic type R so you wont need mesh.... if not, then just get your oem grill painted. One thing I did a long time ago was cut out the OEM "fins", leaving just the area for the emblem. I put a black painted mesh behind it, but its not really needed.

In searching throughout the day today, I came to basically the same conclusion. I went with a new OEM grill ($15) rather than painting the old one, though. I'm not a big fan of painting body parts myself - maybe it is just my lack of painting skill, but I anticipate trouble down the road with chipping or discoloration. I think I'll cut out the vertical slats, but leave the horizontal fins and emblem section in place.

whats wrong with a mesh grill? i think it would look nice on your black hatch. buy some 6 dollar gutter guard(you get like 6 sheets) spray paint it with ultra flat black paint, trim, and go throught the diy mesh grill process. you could do what i did too and take the "civic" badge off the rear and glue it in the center. or take your H and do the same. you will need a plastic to metal glue tho.

I just don't like mesh grills.

Fiberglass over the OEM grill so it's just this flat piece and paint it black.

Of course make it follow the body of the car but who knows...might be a thought
