I found a 1999 Skyline GT-R (R34) for $27,000!!!!!!!!! It has only 29,900 miles and loads of upgrades! I am so happy I finally found one and I am trying to get in contact with him to buy it.I wonder why it is so cheap tho? He lives in Illinois but the car is in portugal and he said it was registered, well I hope everything works out fine.

Yah, I know, I emailed him. Maybe he means it's registered in Portugal. But if this is for real, wow, just wow.

I'm pretty sure that it's not US legal since the car is in Portugal... you should also know that Motorex currently can't legalize any R34s because of of the OBDII... you might want to check with them to see if they've cleared up that mess yet... it'll cost you another $26K to have it legalize through Motorex... if you can get it for for $60K total, you still would have gotten an awesome deal... good luck

Yourself? Meaning that you would do the processing with the DOT, Customs, EPA, and the National Highway and safety?

Yes, I found this car on the net with detailed pictures and description.
Yourself? Meaning that you would do the processing with the DOT, Customs, EPA, and the National Highway and safety?
Yes, thats right.
My main fear of buying Skylines though is the fact that it may be stolen and if it was I am afraid I will get in trouble for buying it, will I?

If you do not mind, could you PM me the link to the car, I will keep it to myself.
If its stolen, more than likely you would at the least be out of the cash.
If its too good to be true, there is a reason why.
Also, you cannot do the legalising of the car. Sorry, but that is a fact.

You proboly are right, but I thought if you did alll the complying and sent the proof to the DOT, NHTSA, and EPA, you could have it legal and register the car.

If you could prove it met their requirements. Of course you need to know that information first. The hard part is the stuff that has been marked "confidential" that can not be discussed but must be performed.
this whole issue of compliance is one of the major sticky's that is preventing me from moving back to the states at this time as I fully intend on bringing my GTR back with me. However I refuse at this stage to pay what the car cost me to buy to again comply it. I'll wait until RBMotoring is complying them to see what their prices are like. Sooner or later someone else will also be doing it and competition within the industry will bring prices down.

I heard back from the guy. He said it is a US Spec Car which has to be bs because there is no way R34s comply yet, and he wants 30% of the price up front so he can send me the car for inspection, this seems sort of fishy to me

There are some R34s that are US compliant.
Did you get the VIN from him? All you would have to do is call MotoRex, and give them the VIN, and they could tell you if it had been through them or not.

I doubt he'll give me the VIN if he is lying

Haha, nice answer.
Anyways the guy replied so I replied back asking for him VIN and the name of the compliancing (not a word but you get what I mean) company. He hasnt responded for like 1 1/2 days now, nearly 2 days. Probably found out I meant business and he wasn't going to go any further with his petty lie. Oh well, it WAS to good to be true. Maybe it still is true, who knows. Hopefully I will get a reply.
