I'm in the process of shopping for a used car for around 10-15K, what are some good options... I'm looking for something thats less than 5 years old.
Also, which has faster acceleration? A Honda Civic EX or a Accord EX (not the V6) for the same model year.

what are you looking for in the car? do you need it to last a long time, do you want the most speed, does it matter if its closer to 15k or 10k?

a stock accord ex should be .5s quicker in 0-62mph i'm pretty sure

I want something with speed, but is reliable, i want to keep it for 4-5 years. Dosen't really matter where in that price range it is.

there are a lot of choices. you can keep some money in your pocket with a hyundai accent, elantra but i dont think its what you want. i think that prolly something like an eclipse might work out for ya. golf gti is another choice if you would rather a European car than japanese. On the american side a grand am is one option. oh woah i have to go i'll have to give you some more suggestions later

Here are some that I've been checking around for:
hyundai tiburon
honda civic
handa accord
mazda protégé
vw jetta 1.8T
nissan sentra se-r
subaru impreza
toyota celica gt-s
I kind of want something that is pretty quick stock or that can be made quick fairly easily.

oh hmm. imo the gt-s is one of my favs, its a great car if you like the style, the impreza is the same but focuses more on performance. dont like the protege myself. not aggresive enough.the protege 5 is a different story and definately something to think about more than the normal protege. tiburon is pretty good but i prefer celica to it in almost everyway. sentra is something to consider but i still prefer the celicas style. the jetta is the only european car but its not much of an eyecatcher(in fact its not) and we all know how easy it is to mod a civic but they are just so common. if you do want one though then you have to research which trim you'll want. the accord is a more laid back car as opposed to most of the others in that category

so i'd pick the celica. plus aftermarket is always an option with them if you need more performance, main concern is living with the looks

SE-R is great also...you can fit 5 people in it,its pretty fast, and very reliable! and it has a nice style!

Basically I want the a fast car with good handling, the best I can get for 15K or less, but I don't want to fall apart in 2 years and or have to pay craploads of maintenance.

i'd still say celica, take a look at the se-r and see which you like more. oh and make sure its a 7th gen celica which it basically has to be if its gonna be less than 5 years old

if you are gonna get the new tiburon, i would get that cuz there is something about its looks, imo, i think it looks the best. there are beginning to be more and more aftermarket parts for the tiburon.

thats true, imo i just couldnt live with something with the name hyundai lol maybe in the next few years that will drastically change in fact im pretty sure it will. they are getting bigger and better yearly

oh btw i found a good website for quarter mile and 0-62mph times that answers your question about the civic and accord and which is faster:
http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm
btw the accord is faster but of course more expensive

yes, it is kind of weird having a hyundai badge on the car. but thats the only draw-back.
just to let you know, not trying to be mean or anything, but there is an edit/delete link under each one of your posts in which you can edit your post so you dont have to keep on doing two posts in a row.

sounds like your not really a domestic guy, but you could get a nice trans-am for that amount of money.
Definitely not the kind of car you want if you are looking at something like an accord though.
