I have a 1992 dodge caravan.9-month's ago the trans went into low gear on it;s own. I had the trans rebuilt compleatly $2,000.00. 2-month's ago it did it again they told me it was the code read it was the solenoid assembly another $200.00. 1-month ago it did it again. the codes said it was the solenoid again replaced. 1-week ago it did it again?
I have a 3.3 v-6 When put in drive it stays in low. turn van off and it resets itself then works for a while.

You may either need a new solenoid pigtail connector (or try to repair the spread pins in the connector) or there is indeed an actual internal trans problem that the computer is blaming the solenoids for. I'd go for replacing the connector first, as it's the easiest and cheapest and can be done yourself. They are available from chrysler.

Hope this helps,
Geoff

I have an 89 Voyager that did the exact same thing. After shifting in Drive, it would act like it was going to shift and then go to second gear and stay there until you shut the thing off and started over. Same thing. I changed the INPUT and OUTPUT SPEED SENSORS. Cost around $60.00 US dollars. Then disconnect the battery to reset computer. Sometimes it takes disconnecting battery twice to reset it. Works like a new tranny. Let me know if this works. Worked for me.
