i saw the new 7 series today and i dont know what motor trend and r&t are saying that it is ugly. i think it is really good looking. i love the headlights. but one thing bothered me, if u look at it from the side, it kind of looks like a volvo.

Yeah, I like the classy/subdues looks of it. Also, with the e-drive, the mags complained about how hard it is to start it-- turn key, stomp brakes and push button-- oh my how harrd it is...
Basically, this car is severely underrated

i hate that about magazines, they are sooo biased. if they dont like one little thing, they complain, c'mon now, not every car is perfect.

they also aren't used to driving cars with new tech (I mean for controls or interior). Too bad, it got a lot of bad publicity from people who could only spend a half day with the car.

motor trend named the toyota pirius as the car of the year. c'mon now, when a hybrid gets to doing at least 14 second 1/4 miles, then i will be interested. the rx-8, sti, evo, and gto were all in there. im starting to think that motor trend are getting old and dont care about speed anymore.

Same thoguhts here, these things have been around for years.

Coolest feature on these cars, if you're stupid and don't close the door properly, it will auto close itself, genius, pure genius.

yup, the new 7 as well as the new 5 series is ugly...IMO looks like they're taking the style awaay from the BMW...that rear end looks so deformed

The car is quite simply unrefined. I drove one not too long ago and I was extremely disappointed. Other than the fact that it's ugly, it's annoying to drive. One thing that drove me crazy was the turn signals. The mechanism didn't lock up or down like every other normal one on the planet. Changing lanes on the freeway was a hassel due to the fact I would put the turn signal on one way then try to turn it off and end up putting the other side on. The visibility out of the car is horrid. The power felt very weak compared to an S500. The seat adjustments was just plain retarded. The only redeeming factor of the car was the ride quality and handling. If I were to drive the car every day I guess I could get use to it but right now I'd take an S-class or an A8 any day of the week. :2cents:

the rear end of the car is unfortunate but overall I like the styling. Also, not having driven one I don't have the same first hand info on the car as blindside, but when Clarkson tested the S500 he had just as many problems as people have seemed to have with 7-series. Given another year or two I hope the BMW will be able to get the quirks out of the system.

the first year of a model always has glitches here and there. i think that over time bmw will get all the glitches out of the 7 seires.

I LOVE non-locking turn signals- that is the ones where you knock it up or downand it blinks three times before moving right??? They are simply amazing- prevents idiots from driving down the road with thier indicators on 20 minutes after they manouvred.

And I personally think the 7 series looks awesome- much better than the old one.

Yes, Mercedes makes their cars where if you tap it one direction the blinker blinks three times and stops, for changing lanes. Or you can lock it for a stop light situation. I love that about their cars too. But the 7 series does not blink 3 times and stop, it's either on or off. Tap it up or down and it will blink until you turn it off. And when you hit it the opposite direction to turn it off you usually turn the opposite side blinker on. It's really annoying.

i think the new 7 series is a awesome car!!My dad has one and once you get used to it and get everything down it is a fun and awesome car to drive. I think the power is a lot better than a s 500 cause when you rev the 7 it can haul butt!!

I don't know a lot about cars (the technical side that is) 'cause I don't drive yet, but, about the sgnal lights, with my dad's car, they stop when you turn the weel, so when you change lanes, wait for a stoplight, etc, it seems just the perfect solution. (it's a lancia dedra stationwagon 1.8 BTW)

if there is a car out there that is newer than 1980 without turn signals that stop after you turn the wheel, help us all. if you dont know much about technical stuff, then you most likely will learn here on af. i know i have.
