ANy point is 20psi?

I am currently in the process of building a A6 block for turbo. My goal is minimal boost daily but up to 20-25 psi when racing. A friend of mine (who I might add hates hondas, he's a mazda lover) says there is no point in running 20 psi on a FWD car. He says I will never get traction and will cause me to be slower. He said the most I could run is 8. Why is this? Wouldn't a front wheel drive car tech be better than rear wheel drive due to the engine weight giving it better traction? Plus if I go with a turbo setup the doesn't build boost till 3-4k I will already be rolling so traction shouldn't be to bad of a problem right?

tell your friend he is retarded.

20 psi will cause some major traction problems, but you should have hardly any problem with 12 psi or daily on decent tires.

sleeve the block, forged pistons and rods, and beat the living piss out of your mazda friends car :D

the issue with traction primarily comes from the "launch" - when you take off the natural weight transfer goes to the back of the car. You'll notice on RWD cars the wheelie bars are short and only keep the car from flipping. On a FWD car, the wheelie bars are long as shit, and actually provide leverage to keep the front tires planted = traction.

Do whatever you want, and boost it enough to take your boy out

heres another good idea, buy adjustable shocks,
make the stiff as hell in the rear, and soft as hell in the front for the track, reason is the same as wheelie bars kinda, this will make the car squat kinda when takin off as the weight wont transfer to the back all that much and keeping traction on the front where ya need it! :)

I'm going N/A for awhile, but when I'm back to turbo I'll be running ~1.5 bar (22psi I think) on stock sleeves (Maybe a block guard, but not needed). Just using B16 connecting rods and 1G-GTE pistons (1G toyota supra turbo).

If you are concerned about traction go with a jimfab crossmember, stiff shocks and springs in the rear, slicks, and maybe a dual stage boost controller.

22psi on stock sleeves will get you a blown engine in no time. block guards dont do shit as sleeves mostly crack in the middle. if you're goign to boost that high you need to sleeve the block.
