I have a 1955 Mercury Monterey whit original engine, but in my country

Do you know what a distributor "Curve Kit" is? It's spark advance weights to replace your original ones. If you can find one of those kits to install into your distributor to advance the timing quicker and a bit more advanced, you'll squeeze another few miles per gallon out of each gallon of gasoline. The other option is to remove the 4-barrel carburetor, get an adapter plate and install a 2-barrel carburetor....OR exercise some self-control and don't do fast accelerations.

Where did you find a '55 Mercury? In Reno, Nevada, if your car is in good shape you can make good money selling it here. The older cars are in demand, especially in the month of August during the car shows. Everybody wants a hot rod, or a car to make into a hot rod then.

Thank you for e-mail me. I donīt know what is a curve kit, but I live in Uruguay and think itīs impossible to find one here.
The other suggestion ( change of carburetor) it was made yet.
The car was in my family for a few generations and I want to keep it, but the price of gas here is expensive.
If you have other information, please send me anything. Thanks again

This is what I'll do: I'll stop off at an auto supply store after work tomorrow and see if those "curve kits" are still available. I'll let you know. If they are available for your car, I'll send you one for free. Do you have a 6 cylinder engine or a V-8. Which one?

It doesn't look promising that I'll be able to find a "curve kit" for your car. I was told today that the curve kits avialable only go back to 1974. I have another couple of places to check. I'll keep you posted.
