Hello, Forum! I signed up because I'm buying a '02 or an '03 Camry soon, and I thought it would be wise to check what people who know cars are saying.
I posted some questions in the Toyota Camry forum. For those interested in top performance and special features, my questions are a real bore, I suppose.
There's no way I could pass myself off as a mechanic, but I was half-way under the hood of my Tercel yesterday when a man walked up and asked it I was a Catholic priest...which, oddly enough, I am. Priests sometimes change air filters and spark plugs, too.
Thanks for welcoming me to the forum.

Just bought a camry'02 SE V6 and love it. I had a '94 V6 XLE (and still do) and loved it. I stuck with the camry b/c it was so good to me. I wanted the SE mainly because of the sporty look and the options. I wanted to stick with the V6 which is hard to find in the SE model but I found one just like i wanted with the exception of lower milage . It has 43,000 miles which I could deal with. It was traded for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have driven it a week and love it. It handles well, like a sports car almost. I drove the LE model but I wanted an SE and I am enjoying the leather. That is new to me. It will be enjoyed. I am on the road a lot and needed something reliable and have found that camry's are that.I did a lot of reasearch before buying and was not in a hurry to buy so I found what I wanted. If you don't mind a 4 cyl. then you may be satisfied with the LE and if you are like I was I did not like the '01 body styles as good as the '02 so I knew what I wanted. All of the dealers wanted to sell me a brand new one but i could not do that for insurance purposes and payment also. I have a new driver that i will be adding to my insurance in May. She will be 16. Just know what you want and you won't go wrong. It will show up. We looked at dealers and also private owners and found it at the dealer Jeep/Mazda used lot. Good luck.

It's good to hear from a happy Camry owner. I just bought an '03 Camry LE on Friday. There's only 14k miles on it. It feels very fast too me, because not so long ago I was driving a 3 cyl Metro. I hope to care for the Camry myself, but I scarcely recognize the engine components. Cars have changed a lot. This one doesn't seem to have a distributor cap, unless I'm just not seeing it. Apparently, the timing on many cars is being controlled electronically now. Best wishes on adding a teen driver to the family car pool. I think my parents aged a decade during my first year as a driver...and I had bought my own car and insurance. Now I'm pushing thirty, and I worry about them. Life is good.
