Hi Folks. New here but have learned alot already. I picked up a 97 4 door 4x4 with the V-6 Vortec a few weeks ago. Ok...now the questions.
I was changing the front shocks and noticed that the front axels turn when the 4x4 is not engaged. Is this normal for these trucks? I've owned 3 other 4x4, 2 Fords and a Toyota but they all had what I would call a rearend up front more like the one in the back. I'm not at all familiar with this set up.
Also when turning real sharp and in reverse the truck feels like its in 4 wheel drive. Is this just a normal action of the CV joints or something to be concerned about?
Sorry about the long post so I'll stop for now...but I have a lot more questions. Any advice is truly appreciated.

There was a recall on the ball bareings in a 97 blazer 4 door. go to an internet seach and type vehicle recall's and then find a site that allows you to select 1997 then Chevrolet then Blazer. It lists 4 recalls or so. Ones to do with the steering.. You could 'lose control or steering without notice'
My truck does the same while backing up if im not hitting the gas..
i have a 97 as well.

Thanks 97blazerct. I'll do a search and see what I can come up with.
I thought the 4x4 feeling was normal but wasnt sure. And it is when I'm not hitting the gas. I didnt think of that when I post the question.
