Buick 1994 will not start. It was pulling while driving at about 45-50mph. Then, won't start at all. The battery is fine, alt is fine, I am thinking maybe the spark plug wires, but dont know where to go from there. The car is dead 40 miles from where I live, and do not have the money to have it towed. :( If anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions for me I would greatly appreciate it! Let me know if I left anything out. If it is the wires what is the easiest way that I can fix that on a Chicago side street? Thank you, not all around dumb girl, Heather

Did it just die? I for one have never herd of a spark plug just taking a crap and making the car die. What year is the car? If it just died all of a sudden I would look at the ingnition module *sp* . Just rembember that a engine needs three things to run fuel/air mix, compression, spark, and the weakest of the three systems is the spark.

My suggestion sis to check things affecting the engine itself, such as the timing chain, ignition or fuel delivery. These engines are prone to eating chains. Checking the compression is the way to chek this. Ray

Turn the key to the "run" position and listen for the feul pump to kick in. If you don't hear anything, I'm willing to bet that's what it is. Same thing happened on my wife's '90 Olds- it's not something easily fixed on a side street. :2cents:

If car died while runnning, my money is on the crank position sensor, located near the bottom of the engine underneath the pulleys.
Look for broken electrical connectors first, and ensure the connection is tight. Losts of road crud gets up in there.

Another tell tale sign is that the car will turn over but never fire.
Assumming of course all other checks listed are fine.
This is a pull the engine to fix kind of issue. Better left to the pros.
