Nothing radical looking here.

Are they hiding something? JT said recently that the front wing on F2004 would surprise everyone. I'm certainly still waiting to be surprised.

The front end looks new, I doubt some radical nose is to come, it would change several design aspects of the rear of the car. Maybe he didn't want Williams to steal all the press.

He didn't speak of the nose, he was talking about the wing ... ;)

well theres some interesting detailing round the rear...but thats about it. its obviously a development of the 2003, but i cant see anything even remotely radical/exciting/supprising about the wings. maybe we will have to wait for when the racing begins to see the 'radical' parts

Actually, I take my point back. I'm surprised that there is nothing surprising about that wing :D

And still, here's a quote from Todt: “With the 655 we hope to continue our formidable run of success. It will have a front wing that could surprise everyone.”

I read there are some developements due before Melbourne, they have about 40 days to get something sorted out.

Yes, and Byrne said that the car we'd see at Melbourne could be quite different from the one we see now, but I'm still rather disapointed after all the buildup. I know it's childish and only laptimes matter really, but I wanted something radical :)

At the moment it just looks like a C23 clone

they still might "desauber" it fairly soon.

Rory Byrne:
"There will be fairly substantial changes to the aerodynamic components, things that will be obvious are front wing, turning vanes and the rear aero package. There will also be a substantial change to the rear of the car. They will be introduced during February as soon as possible. The reason they're not on there is because we've pushed the development of the car and we're still making the pieces. As soon as they're ready they will be introduced."

sounds good. i cant wait till the first race. it will be the fiest time in ages that some of the cars actually have distinctive differences. :iceslolan

I saw the car on TV , Anyone saw that Front wing ?

The rear wing become biger and the front wing is not as simple as it looks .....
I dout they can change the degree for more or less down force when the car is runing...

The wing that they ran at Mugello is already a bit different.

The front and rear wings have been updated as well as the winglets on the rear of the side pods.

Testing the Monaco/Hungaroring spec? Or just trying out the mid wing the espionage department found in Jordan's reject bin?

That front wing sure is complex, still not surprised by it though.

Phil, may I refer you to the thread about recycling? You know, the one that shows Ferrari testing a very similar concept in 1977? :D

RallyRaider

I wasn't suggesting Jordan invented the concept, in fact roll-bar mounted wings go right back to the sixties, most infamous would have to be the one on the MP4/10. I was commenting how this one looks exactly the same as Jordan used a few times in 1999, Williams did it exactly the same a few years later. I'm wondering why Ferari are trying something the other teams have used and abandoned. Are they scratching for downforce, or just think they can make it work better than those who have tried before?

RallyRaider

Further, being so straight it looks out of place with the curvy front and rear wings. Surely they could have modernised the concept by adding some curves or vanes to make it more interesting.
Only kidding :p

It works well enough to break the Imola track record on Wednesday ;)

RallyRaider

Must have been the wing then :p On the surface those Imola test times seem to indicate Ferrari have a signifigant advantage again.

Fingers crossed ;)

With the height of the wing being near the height of the rear wing, the airflows around the rear wing may be improved. ???????

The shark grille is back. Note how they now seem to have an option to have them or not. Both pics from Friday practice for Australian GP.

Same as last year (the option to have the grills or not). I also seem to recall they sometimes ran with the grill on one side but not the other.

No Badoer in a Sauber yet either.
