1988 Chevrolet Celebrity Euro 2.8 v6 won't start

Leaving the Museum to go home, my car would not start so I had it towed home. I changed the fuel filter and sparkplugs. The fuel pump pushed the gas on to the payment as it purred. After I connected the lines to the fuel filter, it still would not start. Please post your solutions to this dilema.

Did you check to see if the car had spark? If you got fuel, you have to have fire to make it run. There is no good way to check it unless you got a timing light. If you do, hook it to a wire and see if the light blinks while someone cranks it. If you dont have a light, take out a plug(or use one of the old ones) and connect a plug wire from any cylender. Lay the spark plug on the motor where the metal part of the plug will be grounded. Again crank have someone crank it. If you dont see any spark that could be the problem.

Looking for spark was a great idea. I did as you said and found no spark. A friend of my said that if I did not have a spark to change the crankshaft sensor. So, in an attemp to remove it I, have more or less broken the top of it off and can't get it out. I removed the screw holding it in, and the sensor should slide out, but there is a ring lip that is holding it in. Its under the manifold on the block facing the firewall.
Any suggestions?

yes, find a wood screw about an inch long, or a sheet metal screw, which ever you can find and screw it into the crank sensor about a quarter of an inch or so. this will give you something to pull on with a pair of pliars. Just be careful. This should work, I have done it before.

Did you get the crank sensor out yet? Was it the problem?

The crank sensor was the problem, I rigged a wire around the head of the sensor and used a screwdriver to nudge it out. When I replaced it,
it ran.
