Servicing History

Hello,

I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier with 65,000 KM (40,389 miles) with 2 years left on the financing. Just recently the bulb behind the odometer went out. Now the dealer wants me to play $400 CND to replace the entire cluster.

Instead of paying to get it repaired, I was wondering if it would just be better to just trade the car in for a new one. I figure I can get half the value of the car on a trade-in. From what I saw at the dealer I could get a new Optra fully loader, power everything (a far cry from the base model with no A/C I have) for $237/month CND SmartLease.

Before I look into this further, I was wondering what servicing history people have had with the 2001 Cavalier? I mean, I can live with a burnt odometer bulb but is this a sign of things to come? I have had the car since it only has 12KM (8 miles) and religiously used GM for all oil changes, winter sevice specials, fall service specials, etc, etc.

When does the cavalier start needing mandator repairs ( more the $100 CDN)?

Anything thoughts on your experience with the cavalier and at what point can I expect some major repairs will be greatly appreciated.

Alvin
