Oil, Filter and....LUBE??

Does anyone lube their X when their changing the oil? I've never seen anyone lube anything on my cars whenever I've taking them to the local Oil, Lube and Filter joints. I'm changing my oil on my X, so I'm curious if I'm missing something. My rig has developed an annoying squeek up front that I can't track down......

There really isn't anything up there to lube. No grease serts anyway.

When does your squeak occur?

Only one lube fitting/zerk I know of is the forward driveshaft/propeller shaft.

The squeek is very interesting... only happens when the car is moving (obviously), but the frequency doesn't change with bumps, speed or anything else. Almost sounds like a muffler mount is loose (had that happen once), but shaking my muffler doesn't reproduce any sound.

I'm used to the creaking of my leaf springs, but this is driving me nuts.

Are you sure the brake "squealers" aren't touching the rotor?

I just replaced my brake pads over the weekend, and that sounds exactly like what I was hearing. The passenger side inside pad was about gone and the squealer was touching. Sounds kinda like someone running their fingers down a chalkboard.

While I'm down there, I always take a minute just to make sure the hardware for the shocks are nice and tight. (I had one of the lower bolts on a shock manage to work itself loose)

Hope that helps!

I'll check the shock mounts. I just had Bilsteins put on a few months ago, so that could be it.

It isn't the break pads, I've had that in the past also. Picture a four year old jumping up and down on a squeaky bed about 180 times per minute.
