ok i rann many searches for threads on vtec controller in the integra and the techical forums and im not finding the results satifying. so can girls help another car girl out? I'm getting an apexi vtec controller brand new for cheap cheap cheap! and hookups for dyno, tuning, and settings. now do i want to have the vtec kick in twice if i set it at two different rpms, would this mess up my car put alot more wear and tear. it it the same as having vtec just kick in quicker? some background information is: i have a 2k integra gsr i havent modiftied the cams yet, i just have exhaust. end of this year or next year i'll be going forced induction or have my motor tricked out ( i have good hookups to a shop to get stuff done and internals bought for cheaper. i can get tuning for free so i can reset the controller settings later on after another dyno. so...what are the downsides of vtec controller and having it kick in early and kick in twice? (if you're gonna say dont bother getting it now and wait til later, i'm getting this new for alot less than what ppl pay if i want it now) thank you!

hope you don't mind some info from the opposite sex :grinno: but there are some good reasons for a vtec cont. as there are downsides. I'll give ya the downside first.

-yes you can change ur v-tec engagment but unless you have an aftermarket camshaft or any type of forced induction(turbo/supercharger) there really would be no point to change the rpm were it begins the vtec engagment. Now lets take a b16a for example since i'm more familiar with them then b18c1's. vtec kicks in on a 2nd gen b16 at 5,700RPM and take it up to redline at 8,200.If you were to lower engagment to say 5,000rpm your motor would have a small lag since you are using a stock cam.

now the upside- say if you were to get an aftermarket cam which helps raise RPM's alot faster then ur stock, then it would be fesible to lower vtec engagment since your cam can compinsate for it.Same with forced induction. I know of people setting there v-tec very low on turbo cars to help with the lag then disengage and engage again after you receive the turbo boost.

Since you are getting it for dirt cheap i would say get it just so you don't have to pay so much later on. Also, what type of modifications specificaly are you going for???

specifically im not sure yet. right now if i go forced induction lesay turbo i would have to pay full price and all the items bov injectors turbo wastegate intercooler piping hondata etc....but i can have the internals rebuilt and modified for cheap. but if i go N/A it may be slightly cheaper than turbo because i can get hookups for that. i was told it can be rebuilt to push 12 seconds (but im gonna be safe and say 13 seconds sounds too good to be true) new block too possibly (cams piston bore stroke whatever can be done will be done). unfortunately i have to do show before go because i need more sponsers. right now im getting the apexi for $150 including the dyno tuning and setting

13's are very possible on a b18c1 going n/a, just make sure the person tuning it knows it's for daily driving or else they will tune it like crap for driving normaly.

I have a 240 converted to 180SX specs. tuned for daily driving.I've run a 14.4 on street tires with lots of wheel spin in 1st gear even with lsd. My buddy told me he can tune it for 12's so i let him.Damn car idled like crap but launched scary fast.Drove it tuned like that for about a month then finaly decided to have it detuned so i could drive it throughout the day and not get a giant headache trying to keep the car from stalling at a stop light.

when it's tuned, make sure it's tuned for your daily driving.

With your car i would port n polish the head,skunk2 TB,ITR oil pump,skunk2 cam,je forged pistons, titanium valves/springs & retainers, resleeve the block(for safety), and balance an blue print the block.with that set up you should have no problem running 14's.You might want to look into zydyne instead of hondata, might be better for your car.
