Noob primer questions.

I'm about to paint my 350Z body shell into blue.
Now Is it okay to use gray primer? or is white better?
The tamiya instructions shows to paint white after primer, then body color. Is this white coloring necessary for a good finish?
Also when primering, do i need to plug all holes? is primering going to clog them up?

Just went over it again and I still don't understand the painting white over primer part. Can I use gray primer, paint white over it and use it to paint light colors? Or would I have to go buy a separate white colored primer?

Yes. All colours should be painted over white primer, except for black and grey. These two cover almost anything. The only reason for the white over grey is because the light colours with eventually become darker if you use grey primer. alex wrote a great tutorial on this. check it out here:

You would be far better off buying some white primer.

white primer u can use practically for anything.... while on topic of priming... i got some like... not fine primer... its the stuff that goes on lumpy.... (for cars, and very large surfaces.) can i use this, and sand off excess lumps. or am i better off using fine primer (which i also hav, but want to save)
