lowered '95 prelude

I had my 1995 prelude lowered by putting new springs on it. I had a wheel alignment done right after. The inner edge of all my tires are wearing out faster then the rest of my tires. Does this happen with all cars that are lowered? Or is a wheel alignment all that is needed?

How low did you go? Are you on stock rims or what?

You might need a camber kit

i went only 1 inch lower. i was on stock rims. got new tires and new rims after the tires i had on it went bad after 26,000.

yeah u need camber kit i forget wat the ratios is for Inch lowered/ to degree decreased but when u lower the car u need to get teh camber adjusted. wat id do is take it to a shop and see wat ur current camber degree is set at. Stock is 0 in the front -3/4 in the back. after that u need to ethier get a camber kit or u can just bend the knuckles which is wat i had done. Most people say bending the knuckles is bad, which i agree from a racing perspective but if this is just a daily ride not one that u use to run circuits/ect. id say knuckles. THis way the degree stays permanent and its about 1000 cheaper. I price checked both mehtods and it would cost me about 1,200$ for super autbacs to do it while the shop i went to only charged 400 with a warranty. the only + side for a cambver kit that i see is that ur cambers are adjustable.so it really all depends on wat u prefer

whoa...there go my plans to drop my '97. oh well...any lower and i wouldn't be able to put a body kit on it

I would do another alignment and see if the problem becomes any better first. Maybe the springs sagged a bit after driving around some months with them (Which brand are they?) and that is the reason why you have that much tire wear!? An 1 inch drop is not that much.....My old 4th gen was and my current 5th is lowered at least 1.2" and I never had a real problem with extraordinary tire wear (Of course it is different compared to stock but not that bad...).

I am not really sure what 510prelude means with "bending the knockles" but personally this solution would give me a bad feeling and doing stuff like that is not legal anyways over here in germany (And that is not without a reason!!!). I would rather spend the $$ before I get into an accident because of cheap solutions like that. But that is maybe just me.... :wink:

yeah i was really familiar with the process ethier but if u want me to find out wat is exactly done i wouldnt mind, but wat the pretty much do is bend the front knuckles of the car to the camber degree u desire, it is legal in California for all i know, all i know is i dont really need the ability to change my camber settings every week, and like i said earlier this is more then 50% cheaper then a camber kit

they are eibach springs

my 94 vtec lude is lowered just over 3" with 18" rims and the tyres have ony just got to needing replacing after about 18 months at the front but the back are still fine. this is with no camber adjustment. they look tough sitting like this too. / \

they are eibach springs Some people say that Eibach springs sag a bit after driving around with them for some time... Personally I don´t think that this is true because Eibach is a well known german brand when it is about quality suspension stuff and they are "TÜV- approved" (technical control office here in germany), too.
I am also using an Eibach Pro- Kit on my 5th gen and I am sure that mine did not sag either.
Like I said before I would do another alignment first and see if it becomes any better. If not get a camber kit or whatever solution you prefer....
