Problems starting w/grinding noise...

Whenever I try to start my car, usually cold, I'll let it turn, and it takes a long time to start. It just turns and turns. Then maybe after like 5 minutes, it will finally turn on like if there was nothing wrong.

Also, whenever I turn it, usually the first time, as I let it rest from trying to start, there is this weird grinding noise that starts, and slow down, till it finally goes away like 3-4 seconds later, like if something else is turning, but didn't grip or something didn't stop it. Any ideas?

that sounds like you need a new battery or a tune up if it takes you 5 mins when it is cold to start your car.. and that grinding noise is prolly your starter making noise if it just goes away.. That is something that generally happens when it is bitter cold out.

well recently im starting to hold down the gas pedal once i start up the car. it will turn then kick on but want to shut off immediately afterwards... but i guess since im pressing the gas pedal, i feed it enough to keep it on... im gonna assume its gotta me something with the fuel system.

in that case sounds like the beginning of your fuel pump going bad or filter and or your fuel injection is dirty.. Other then that it could be a tune up issue.. but i would try changing your fuel filter they are only 8 bucks at your local parts store.

i got the same prob but I dont keep trying. Its because of the cold, do you have your DSM plugged in to heat the oil?

I do apologize for my Price the cheapest you can get them is 20 bucks. I did mistake it for the price of it cost for my car. I personally do not own a eclipse it is my boyfriends so I really did not pay attention to the price of things when he has to replace, the fuel filter, and pump. Here if you paid 35 bucks you got ripped off..
