pulling pistons - 3cyl

Anyone tried pulling the pistons from the bottom of a 3 cylinder with the crank in to do a quick and dirty ring job? I figure with 180lbs and no visible ridge the cylinders are OK for a few more k's but it's burning oil faster than an Alaskan furnace and I'd really rather not pull the head or drop the crank in my townhouse carport as I'd probably get evicted then I'd have to sleep in the darn thing and they're a little small for that.

Should work just fine. Might wanna think about pulling the head, and doing the hone job from the top, and make sure NO metal falls on the crank journals, or you could spin a bearing, or score it really bad,

You will have to pull the head and hone the walls. Be sure to install a new set of rod bearings.

I know I should pull the head but I've already done that twice and I just can not afford another head gasket which up here comes out close to $100 (CAN) with tax. I will try what honing I can from the bottom with my flexible shaft over-sized brake cyl like honing device. I think it does need rod bearings but they may have to wait till later - pulling the pan is a lot easier than the head.

The problem I see is getting the pistons back in without breaking a ring. Also is there room for the ring compressor? I wouldn't wait on the rod bearings-loose bearings can allow to much oil to sling on the cyl. walls causing a oil use problem.

Again i am too late but ebay has rebuild kits and gasket kits. The pistons won't come out the bottom.
