alright. i got in a wreck in my gf's '96 accord a while back. after 3 weeks and a $500 deductable we got the car back. on the outside what was wrong with the car was that the front bumper was taken off. drivers side front fender bent. and other basic body damage. now after we got the car back she was following me in my FC an she calls me on my cell phone saying there is some loud clanking sound under the hood. and that the car died. i turn around and find her and check under the hood. my first thought was that a timing belt broke or something. then she said something about her check oil light came one. then i started thinking it was the oil pump. anyways. my dad came out and towed it back to his place. later we had it towed back to Bob Thomas Honda in Bend, OR and they saying that we lost a piston and need a new engine. my main question is, is if i was in an accident could that accident cause the engine to lose a piston? and if she is going to need a new engine anybody know of any engines out there for cheap?

Yes this is mostly caused by the wreck. It probley had a small pressure crak some where in the rod or was getting old. another thing is if the engine doesnt get enough oil to lubercate the parts it will over heat and break. You can rebuild the engine which cost a lot or buy anotherone they start from 1000.00 and up depending on if u have a v6 email me back wit more deatil to at [email protected]
