MY 2000 Series F350 has just started to do the following, It won't Start in park, and I have no brake lights (including the third brake light). I checked the fuses and bulbs, they all seem OK, If I put the car in park after turning the key out of lock The truck will start, but it still has no brake lights. I checked the brake light switch and it has continuity. I understand that this is a common problem but none of the car parts places have a clue? The ford dealership has an idea waiting at $95.00 per hour, two hour minimum service charge. does anybody have a cheaper answer? What could be keeping power from going to the Start/shiftlockout/brakelight circuit? :screwy:

I had the same problem with my 97 f-150. I found the brake light switch on the brake pedal was cracked & forced it out of adjustment. It still had continunity, but out of adjustment due to the crack. My switch was up by the top of the pedal beside the steering column. Replaced it & worked great.
