window regulator gone bad

I pulled the rear driver's side door apart on my '97 Rodeo to find out why the electric window was running rough. The white plastic piece around which the cable runs at the top of the metal track is broken enough to slacken the cable. It looks like an easy fix if I could just replace that part, but I imagine I have to swap out the entire regulator. One site I went to for the part sells only the fron regulators. Do they fit the rear? Can I just repair or replace the plastic piece at the top of the track? All help greatly appreciated!

Sorry to tell ya surfer... But the piece you are talking about can not be found by itself. I too have this problem with mu driver front window. It will require an entire regulator assembly for about $102.00 at the dealer. If the dealer does it all for you , you are looking at about a $220.00 bill parts and labor included. You would think, some after market people would pick up on this and undercut the dealer... Maybe someone in here has the resorses to be able to do thes... Hell I would pay $15.00 to save $205.00, wouldnt you???

Good luck on getting the window fixed! and BTW I have a 95.5 Rodeo if you were wondering.

I've seen cheaper on the net - $75 - but for the front only. Thanks for the reply. I had the opposite side done at a shop for $180, I think, but I didn't ask him how he fixed it. From the price of the parts, it better have been a new regulator!

Any suggestions on where to go for a new one (cheap!)?

The cheapest I've found them is around $45-$50 on ebay, that's the regulator without the motor with the motor it's around $75-$80.

I just had this happen to me. Went to the local pick and pull, took apart 3 other cars (all broken the same way). Found one finally, cost me $48 (reg and motor). Took me about 20 minutes to install, its really brainless.

Nice to see this old thread! I just fixed the driver side rear with a new reg/motor and the pass front with some crazy glue on the clip on the bottom of the window. Turns out it was the pass front that the shop fixed previously. The absence of the vapor barrier was the obvious clue there.

The same guide broke on my rear driver's side window on my 95.5 rodeo. I used a coarse threaded screw to fix it. I pre-drilled a hole, screwed the screw part way in, removed the screw, cut to length, loctited it in and looped the cable through one of the threads. So far it has lasted ~1.5 years.

Compliments of a poor college student who likes his power windows. :)

I..... One site I went to for the part sells only the fron regulators. Do they fit the rear? ....! if www.myisuzuparts.com (http://www.myisuzuparts.com) show them with the same part number, then yes.

This was an old thread. The fronts and rears are different. The rears come with the motor. The fronts have the motor separate from the regulator.
