cd player wont play cd's

i have a sony 4000x and it plays the cd's it wants to play! i get the "error" alot like it cant read the cd! and sometimes it does! could it be that the its really dirty! would a cleaning kit fix it!? thanx

how old is the cd player? are these ordinary cd's or burned ones?

cd player is pretty new and well te cds are original cds not burned! and there not scratched at all yet in new like condition. and ive notice when the unit hasent been in use i tends to play them but very skippy and when the unit has been in use it dont play them at all and i get the "error" message.

I would take it to an audio shop to get cleaned, and get the laser alligned. Then it should work just fine :D

Ummm, it shouldn't be too much. Just call around :D

Yeah, they should just take a brief look at it for free. Then if they have to go deeper to look, then they'll start to charge you, it shouldn't be too much though. :)

Hey i have a Alpine 7875 head unit and just recenlty it has been really crazy on what cds it will play and wont. Like i got the new Velvet Revolver cd and when i put it in it says error but i can put in Nirvana greatest hits nad it works fine. I bought a new stack of CD-Rs. They wont play in my car. I have some older cds that will. I got my head unit about 3 and a half years ago. I have hit the reset button to try that. Ran a lens cleaner didn't help. Any other ideas?

What kinda places will take a look at it? Car Toys? Circuit City? Best Buy?
