My have a 2000 civic ex. This past week's temperature in Minnesota was about -20 degree F. My car didn't start and the motor oil was frozen and my gas tank was really low. I added some oil and had to jump start my car. My car run, but when I try to accelerate the car it lose power. The exhaust smells like smoke. My engine lights also kept on blinking. I think that the intake is sucking in too dense of cold air.
What's wrong with my car? ANY ideas?

Do you have an aftermarket intake? Sometimes the sensor in the intake can freeze over then it's always thinking that it's not warmed up. Also try putting some anti-freeze gas additive in your tank.

I grew up there and know what kind of headache the NEG- temps can be :banghead: Not that it will help you today. But change your oil and use a synthetic oil. The main reason you car wont turn over good is that the oil gets as thick as honey in that cold :banghead: Synthetic oils stay thin in the cold unlike reg motor oils. Another hint, when your dealing with a low BATT. in the cold. Turn on your headlights while jump starting. The ELEC. flowing to run the lights will help in warming up the BATT. :2cents:
