I have a gray pinstripe going down both sides of my truck and want them removed, but i dont want to jack up my paint by using chemicals. Does anyone know how I can remove these safely?

You can use a heat gun and take the pinstripe off. As long as your fairly careful it will not mess up your paint. One thing that you should keep in mind though is that depending on how old your paint job is and how much sunlight it has been exposed to there could be some fadeing issues that you may be able to see once your take the stripe off. Also the pinstripe may leave a little residue but if you give it a quick buff with some mild abbrasive compound it will take care of that.

I have watched several people ruin their paint jobs w/ a heat gun!!! Is there any other ideas out there? Part of me is just saying wait until I am ready to paint the truck, but I sure would like to find a way to take it off now. :)

You wont ruin your paint if your careful. You can also us a hairdryer but it will take alittle longer. It doesn't take much to get the glue to start to release, then all you have to do is keep applying the heat while slowly pulling the stripe. Its super easy to do. I removed all the molding on my brand new 03 truck like this and the dealer's sticker off the tailgate with no problems what so ever.
