2004 TL range per tank

Just got this car and it's been great so far, but I read in the manual that it has a 17 gallon tank. The two times I have filled up, the range computer says I am near empty and the mechanical gauge says the same. I fill up, and the car takes only ~13.5 gallons. Mileage has been OK (around 22.5miles/gallon...and that's almost all commuting), but I was hoping to go well over 300 miles between fill ups.
Anyone else experience this??

I have not had the same problem. I average about 17 miles per gallon and get around 300 per tank.
Maybe you can help me with something. Do you get a very slight vibrating noise from the little door inserts/compartments in the front passenger and driver door? Also, when I go over large bumps, my passenger door panel makes very small "cricky" type noises. Is your cabin completely quiet when you drive?
Thanks

I just filled up my 04 TL navi AT. It said that I was 10 miles from empty but it only allowed me to put in 13.5 gallons. So you're not alone.

Just bought a 6 speed Navi with 18" and the range per tank is my only complaint so far.

I have had the TL for about 8 weeks and easily get 330-350 miles per tank. The last time I was down to 7 miles until empty, and the fill up was 14 gallons. So it seems that if I really want to push the threshold, I could get about 370 miles on a tank.

so how could some ppl have the 13.5 gallon prob while others dont? Is it the different trims?

Trying to reply to all other questions. I have the same mystery with the range. I get about 18 mpg city (I like to go fast) and I get about 240 miles on a tank. I regularly take about 13 to 14 gallons to fill, so I think it's all about how much you want to push it. I think it is conceivable for you Kramers out there to get over 300 miles on a tank.
I have no rattles, other than the sunroof shade. This is a known issue according to my dealer and I think they have a fix for it. No door rattles.
