i'm not to familiar with front wheel drive transmissions or electronicaly controled but the trans. has been not shifting properly for some time now since my father put it in a ditch ( when he did it knocked tthe tire off the front left wheel when it hit with a side load pushing inward)but they all said there was nothing wrong with it but now it is totaly stoped it is as if it is in neutral in any gear . it started to go in revers but then just didn't do anything after it whent about six feet and all gears where the same then 1,2,3 od and r . you can also sorta hear somthing whining like down by the trans. when the engine is runing now regardless of weather or not it is in park or in gear dos not sound good so i shut it off and am planing to go back tommorow and get a better look at it and hopefully figure the problem. so is it rings in the trans somthing else physical or is it just the electronic control device and if any one has an estimate on cost that would be cool to and it has 85,000 miles oon it so it is not under waranty and it is out of date as well

go to an actual tranny place that knows their stuff cause it sounds like the people u asked just costed you more money for a misdiagnose as for cost it varies among tarnny places ...myself i got 159K+ and the only thing i replaced so far was the park and pal lever that permitts the tranny to go in reverse , that alone costed me 900 bucks since they had to drop the tranny to put it in .. and it was cheap since i knew what the problemn was .
i have heard other people get the whole tranny rebuit for around 1400 -/+ or so like i said it depends on who you see.... ALso make sure nothing else is damaged steering pump ETC.
so many things can be wrong at this point
Do it safely

Go to a junkyard and get a low milage tranny. It is cheaper then having the tranny rebuilt (by a LOT). Those trannies are a dime a dozen, because they came in a LOT of cars.
