So do you have any advice for a cold air intake? How can I get a custom one built? Will I have to move my battery? And exhaust?

Hey guys, did you check out the cold air intakes by Rhys Millin Racing, heres the link www.rmrproducts.com/home.htm
He makes a custome intake, that takes place of your intake box now and still uses the cold air inlet.

Yeah I've known of that wesite for a really long time.... but that intake isn't a cold-air intake, its just a filter:angryfire :argue:

Well, gee, rockie, somepeople didn't know about it. So I was just putting it on there for help, you see a lot of questions on where people can find parts. Any way, so youv'e known about it for a while now, when were you gonna tell the rest of us huh? j-k lol.
Well, I've been looking for a cold air intak, so what or where do you suggest I get one?

I believe, that some states have rules about engine swaps. I think that most require the engine to be a newer (model year) than the car. I am not sure of this completely, but I have a friend that took a 96 4cyl Jetta, and put an older VR6 in it, and was not able to register his car in Nevada.
However, a GS-T engine in the new Lancer, minus some pounds would fly!

No prob guys, not getin in a fus, just wondering how were gonna make a cold air pipe for these things. The old 4g63 was turned around so the intake was on the passenger side, now that they reversed it and put it on the drivers side, with the battery, it just looks like a bitch to fit anything.
The Rhys Millen one, used up the stock place, opened up more air, and still used the stock inlet for cold air.
I've talked to a few custom shops and they think the stick air pipe is good, but the limited diameter makes it un wanted, along with the crappy airbox unit.
Rhys Millens replaces the air box, and the intake pipe is short so , really the air doesn't hav etime to heat up, in theory.
So if you've solved the issue, then please post a pic?

well first, California has a law saying that only engines the same year or newer to the car can be swapped. Which means we'd have to find a 4g63 2002 or newer. i guess imma have to wait for some idiot to total their brand new evo in 2003.
As for the cold air intake, i'm lookin to find a way to put the battery where the airbox is, like the evos. It shoulda been done that way in the first place. then imma get some way to put the filter under where the battery used to be. check www.teamdelsol.com for an idea of how to make the piping (aluminized steel) under > how to> MAKE YOUR OWN COLD AIR INTAKE... I've already done this to a different car and felt an increase in torque. good luck.

I customized the one I had on my eclipse, and it increased sound and power. It sounded like a small v8 when I accelerated hard.
It was cool, I dropped it down in front of the radiator. It was a 91 eclipse, and on the other end was a Flowmaster exhaust. Worked real well for mid range and top speed.
These new Lancer, or OZ's need a lot of bottom end, I found the mid and top to be great, so I gotta find an exhaust that will add low end torque

when you find an exhaust that does that, hit up the boards!
idaho? isn't it 5am over there right now? almost 4am in cali...
oh, and here's RPW's ideal intake spot for their turbo. looks like a
good spot as any turbo'd or not, maybe except the fact that their
lancer has a larger front bumper.

We could probably relocate the battery to the trunk... that would open up a lot of space.

Thats kids stuff compared to the adreniline high I get when i'm dreamin of the EVO. I can't sleep, I end up drivin in circles in my head over and over and over.
So about that cold air intake and the battery relocation.
To the left side of the engine bay, to the back wall by the passenger side, is a HUGE, I MEAN HUGE ass hole we could cram a battery in. Why relocate to the trunk, weighs the ass end down i.e. drag on ass end goes up. Not best solution, lets fist the battery in that huge whole i'm talkin about.
That pick your showing, its hard to disifer. Where exhactly are they showing for the air intake?
Just a theory, but why wouldn't you get an intercooler, cram it in the pre drilled mounts behind the bumper, infront of the radiator, Slap a Filter on one end, run the other to the intake manifold. No turbo, but lleaves room for upgrade, and then you got your cold air?
little spendy at first, but when you slap a turbo on there, you wont need to by intercooler!
