Shifting troubles

Wonder if anyone can help me out here. My F350 6.9 Diesel isn't shifting right. Tranny fluid is good and good colour. Talked to a mechanic and he mentioned about some wire on or near fuel pump for electronic shifting. Can someone explain to me where it is in laymans terms? Please email me if you can.
