Hf stands for high fuel economy. Its by far the slowest crx or civic out there. It has 62 hp.Its also the lightest weighing in at 1850lbs.The crx Hf is a great platform for a swap.

HF=high fuel.....honda's saying for high fuel economy. basically bottom of the line. 62hp engine, really tall tranny gearing. however this is the lightest chassis of the crx's.

HF stands for "please give me a motor swap"! It's a great place to start, but please lose that motor and trans!!

I bought my HF new in 91, It has original clutch still in it with 248,000 miles on it. I think I can out run it on my feet, but it gets 45 mpg. Which is why I bought it. It is really ...... SLOW

Yeah HF's are POS's. 1.5 SOHC (which isnt bad) but it's only an 8 valve. Slow as crap, but will get you from point A to point B. They made a VTEC version of this engine to put in the 92-95 CX Hatch which still isnt anything but people buy them because theyre so light. And how the hell are you pulling off an original clutch with over 200k miles. Most people lose their clutches nowadays around 80k.

the 92-95 CX isnt VTEC. it has the D15B8 1.5L SOHC 8 valve engine that is almost identical to the HF only it has normal PM3 flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs like the d15b1/2/7.

the 92-95 VX however, has a 1.5L SOHC VTEC-e 16 valve engine. D15Z1

I knew it was a d15b8 but i thought they had vtec-e also but that it only bumped them up to about 72 hp

You can find them but there isn't many of them. Most were the CRX or the CRX si version. I was thinking of selling mine. I would like to see how long this clutch will last in it. Wife just had twins and I hate to say this I will go the mini-van way it really hurts but a two seater just doesn,t cut it any more.....

I got 170K out of my clutch, so if you baby it, 200+k is easy..My springs in my clutch plate started falling out, so that is why i replaced mine.

Dude..I might buy your HF...where are you? I am in MD. I need a project car...I can't find any time to work on my daily driver cuz I have to drive it everywhere all the time :(

You all might think its slow and what not...but do a swap and you have yourself one hella light and fast lil car...

would it be that light after an engine swap? also, what makes an hf so much lighter?

it isn't that it is SOO much lighter...about 150 lbs. or so than the CRX DX I think..They take out things like sound deadening materials, and extra padding and stuff that weighs extra. The engines themselves aren't really that much different in weight. A ZC at 130HP weighs about 6 lbs. more than a d15b2 (92hp) if I remember my chart correctly. So adding 5-10 lbs. for 40 HP, or 68 Hp in case of the HF motor, is a pretty good power to weight ratio increase overall . Pulling a 1850 lbs. car around is alot easier than a 2265 lbs car (91 DX sedan) - that is 20% less weight..that IS significant.
