Sorry for the large pict. but I want to make this photo available to anyone who wants to draw a cobra. I took it my self so I give permission to do as you please with it.
Ok so this is my next project. I promised my cuz (12 yrs old) a shelby cobra way back and now I need to get this done for him, hopefully before his birthday.
I will be changing the color but keeping everything else. I lowered the car and enlarged the rims for your drawing pleasure :)
You may need other ref picts. for reflections and for the windshield and wipers. Sorry about the paper being in the way. I drew a gray line on the paper to show where I think the chrome molding should be. There are many other picts on the web.

I love the curves of the Shelby Cobra, it should turn out to be an awesome drawing, I was thinking about drawing the original Shelby Cobra next to the new concept one but I dont know when I'll start that, good luck with the drawing

No, I don't think he'll forget. But I might try it, right after the Ferrari Enzo, 575, 360 and 355, Lambo Gallardo, Porsche GT1, and Hummer H2!

Stage 1: Line drawing complete.
I need to add the flames and then start in with the color pencil, come in w/ marker, apply pastel, and then highlights w/ paint.
I am really going to focus and do the rims/tires the way Thom does them. I like his style for rims/tires.
The car will be black w/ yellow and red tipped flames and chrome rims.
Don't ask me that is the way my cuz in-law wants it. :)
Thx for peeping it.

This might sound corny but I really am growing attached to the Cobra. I never thought these were cool cars untill I saw it at the car show and then started drawing it. By the way that blk cobra in my first post is worth 60k and it is just a replica too.

How will you be colouring it in? Colour pencils you said? How will you get a blended surface? Smudgers I'm presuming?

Oh, I am just using color pencil to outline the car. The blends will come from pastels. I will try talkem too to give the pastel a smoother feel.

Hi RB26DETT,
The s15 will be next on my list to finish after this cobra
Thx everyone for checking the cobra out.
Stage two complete: Color pencil lines
I know I messed up on the right tire. I will try to fix it before I start in w/ the marker and pastel.
Believe it or not the pastel and marker will come fast and this ride should be done in about 3 hrs or, 3 days one hour per day. hee hee :)

Thx guys for the words.
I know some folks don't like flames, well who cares about them...hee hee :) just joking. Actually I am not a fan of flames either but my cuz-in-law wanted flames so I put them on for him.
The marker application will be done today. I started last night and it is almost done.

Thx Zwofurti, Zcaithaca, and all the other peops.
I may be able to turn this into a tut., but it will be a while.
I am still going to finish my S15 (graphite) and will incorporate tuts for headlights and chrome. I will be working on that as soon as I finish this cobra, which is about 90% complete now
State 3: Marker application.
This will be my first try at chrome. Chrome parts consist of roll bar, side mirror, front bumper holders, and outer rim ring. The inner rims are just aluminum. I have been studying chrome esp. how it is rendered in Thom's book. The pastel markings for sky and such will really make the chrome come to life, I hope anyway. :)
Thx again for taking the time to check it out.

wow asaenz... your are really talented. that will look sick. i actually like the color choices=o)
one question though, the yellow part, is that pastel or pencil? do you use a maker for the black shadow?
im just wandering because i think i really want to try and get this color stuff down. i have thoms book and i think he forgot to mention some things, or explain better stuff better.
sorry if you already posted how you did it, im just making sure.
thanks

lookin good asaenz, the flames dont look 100% straight tho, but ill bet its just cuz the color isnt finished. I will pass judgement when the final piece is finished.
And if that earlier post was for me, i love flames, its just they looked kinda stringy in that pencil one, but they look way better now. Tribal flames are sweet.
