tons of heating problems

ok, 94 lesabre custom ...

heater randomly turns off and stays off for short periods of time, a couple minutes often. i found once on a long trip where it actually worked it got extremely hot. also there is a coolant smell in the car, possibly a heater core problem?

on the smell, real good chance, on the on-off , see if the blower is on a
fuse or a breaker, breakers sometimes get weak and do that,it can also
be a loose connection to fan, if auto temp :sly:

First of all, check the coolant level in the radiator when the engine is cold. If it is low,top it up and get the vehicle checked for coolant leaks. If the coolant is good and full and no leaks are present, i'd replace the thermostat and go from there.
