looking for more power head work 22re

I am putting a timing chain on a 93 4x4 toyota 140,000. I was just wandering if before I put the head back on if I could do a little something to the head for a little more power I dont want a total hot rod because I like the gas mileage but the truck is extended cab and a little weak I also thought about a header could someone help ?
