you have to use so much force to remove it its unreal.. best bet is to cut it off .. you end up damaging it anyway...

right its the same on all the clio's. the new shape and the old mark 1's. all phases. ive just dont it to mine to put on a new momo gear knob. you first have to cut over the top and sides of the old gear knob and use a screwdriver to pry it apart. itll then split and com eoff in two bits leaving behind a white looking mould that the gear knob was on to stop it twisting or coming off. you have to do the same with this and cut over the top and down the sides then split it off with a screwdriver (or chisel). that leaves the gear shaft which is knurled on the top and shouldnt require you to use any of the grommits that come with the gear knob as its a wide shaft. hope this helps as it just took me about twenty minutes to do and isnt hard.
