IIRC its is automatically the intelectual property of the artist (yes ran...artist :) ) as soon as the work is done. simply by making this image, ran has already copyrighted it.

The original image has an owner, they are not free, They are property of the photographer or someone that payed for it, so if we modified can we call it ours? my guess is not .
And internet being anonymous, I can call my self "RAN"(for the worst of my nightmares :evillol: ) in front of some legal institution, copyright the image($$$) and reclaim the chop and sue Ran, does he have a paper to prove the copyright, I guess not.
If he cant backup his copyrights with a legal institution, then he is bluffing. I only know I choper that copyrights his designs with the help of his business: KuttingEdge, all others I dont think a legal copyright exists. But hey this is just a hobby , if you want to go legal at least pay for the software :icon16:
