well yes there is some advantages and disadvatages. the advantages you have alot better corner. you all around get better traction in every thing you do. but a gsx weights alot more than a gst i have driven both and i dis like the gst, but that is probale becuse i have a gsx

gst have better acceleration from a roll but from a stand still, the gsx is better

traction is one of them, but with, say, a Quaife Limited Slip, some suspension, and good tires you can still get pretty good 60' et's [still won't be as good as a GSX]. insurance also considers all wheel drive 'safer'

From a roll a gst would beat gsx if both are stock. Its only cuz the car is lighter, understand that. Dont waist your money on a gst, youll end up sellin it.

Understand "drivetrain loss".

Essentially,

From a stop light, GSX wins.
On the highway, GST wins.

AWD is nice.

if you want a hell of a launch go with the gsx i wish id have one but dont do a clutch up gread id leave the stock clutch or if needed to be replaced ever dont upgrade much because you will drop the trans because the all wheel drive needs something to slip some and the tires do not let it much but they are slower in a long run drag like tord the end of the 1/4 mile but will deffenetly make that up at the launch.

i want to highway race and drag race...i want a fast car...so at 80 mph on the highway i will floor it and really take off...but i also want a car thats good at the stop light...what should i get?

like said before the gsx is much better from a stop light cus of its AWD, but the gst is much better on highway races cus its lighter and is FWD either car is good to me but i preffere a gsx.

so those r the options on the eclipse so its up to u what ur taste is. is it from stop light to stop light or to just tease other cars on the road doing 50 +?

ps: sorry if u cant understand me or read what im writin or if i didnt give enought info but my left hand is broken with a full cast and it sucks and someimes i dont check what i write :banghead:

Get a RWD

MR2 Turbo

Yes, RWD is the goodness of both. And while AWD has a better launch than RWD, the RWD will quickly catch up and blast off into the distance at higher speeds.

I'd agree, get an 92-94 MR2 Turbo.

Yeah the ZO6s and Vipers really blow me off after the launch, LMAO. Unless by higher speeds you mean over 120 when I cross the traps. ;)

Note that if you converted the AWD drivetrain to RWD, you'll get a better quarter mile time. Why? Less weight. So, if you were racing a car identical to yours, only with a RWD conversion, it will run better 1/4's.

You can't use different cars to compare drivetrains. A MR2 Turbo (which is RWD, btw) with as much horses as you've got in your eclipse will beat you. Not only because of drivetrain, but also weight.

All of these generalizations do not take driver skill into consideration.

If my car was RWD I certainly would NOT be running 1.5 second sixty foots, would would hurt my ET more than it would help. An MR2 with my power better have slicks. I'll stick to my all seasons ;)
