AF-aholic?

Everytime I turn the computer on I find myself connecting to the internet and immediately coming here. In fact, this is my homepage...and the FAQ and the How-to section are in my Favorites folder and checked regularly, i.e., everyday! And since I'm running on cable, I can be online 24/7...
When I'm working with my pc, I spend most of the time here, and with "most of the time" I mean 99.9%...!:eek7:
I don't know if this normal (obviously not), but I guess I'm addicted to AF.

I was just wondering...does anyone feel the same way?

I have AF up all day during the week when I'm here at work. After work I only come check things out if I'm not doing anything else (ie. working on models, downloading stuff, etc...). On weekends I pop in every now & then to see if I missed anything exciting/informative.

I'm addicted. Even if I open up a new explorer to look at a different website, I open my favorites and click AF model forum as a habit.

Woohoo! I'm not the only one that happens too. Isn't that frustrating?

That is so true. I check this site everyday at least 3 times a day; once in the morning, when i get home from school and then once at night. When i post a thread I tend to check even more though. This site is so addictive it should be a drug

When I'm at work, AF is the first site I logging into, and last site before I leave home.

now I can see that, but who cares. As long as you know how to control your self and not let your boss (if you are at work) get you :D

I'm always on AF, checking out different forums. Also, I usually get instant e-mail notification for when someone posts to a thread I've subscribed to. And since I have Windows Messenger on whenever my computer is on, I get lots of little e-mail pop-up boxes in the corner throughout the day. Sometimes, I'll have 5 or 6 internet explorer windows open looking at multiple threads.

Really bugs the shit out of my fiance when I'm posting and she needs to get online.

Hi. My name is clem24. And here is my story.

I haven't bought models for a while now. I usually went out and got 2-3 kits a month. Then, I stopped cold turkey, cause I figured I was spending way too much on stuff that I probably wouldn't even ever build! In fact, I even liquidated stuff on eBay, including rare kits like a Hase Mitsu Galant Rally. Piles of models were stacking up in my basement. Yes, it's time to stop.

Then came along came this "AF" place. I was interested in the Subaru Fujimi GDB Sti that came out, and wanted to see the kit. I was doing searches on Google, and this "AF" gallery came up. Ok, let's check it out. Cool. Lots of nicely built models. Let's check out what "AF" is. Oh wow, a big free forum. But wait, there's a whole section for model car builders. But wait, the community inside is sooooo active! But wait, there are sooooo many nice people here and they are showing off models and their progress.

But wait, wow, hey, this sn33ky guy has a built a nice Evo III. Hmmm... Never knew an Evo could look like that. I think I'll look on eBay. Oh man, that Kunta's NSX-R looks nice, let's see. Oh man, he's built ALL these models? WOW, I never knew that car could look like that! I want one too! Hmm...

Ooh, private messages... Nope, maybe I'll check back in 5 minutes. Wow, wonder when he'll get this project done. Ok, let's see if there's an update, I'll be back in 10.

HELP ME!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Yeah, it's the same way with the rest of the forum. Wow, this guy is building almost the same engine I want to build, I'll have to check back on this one. Lets see over here, hey Ricochet banged a magazine saleswoman, sweet! Well what about over here... Carrrnuttt banned another retarded n00b and locked the thread, cool.

I love this place.

Me too...I don't get to look at it at work much, but when I get home and turn on my computer it is the first site I come to. I can be there quick with cable. It is very addictive, in fact my woman is complaining that I am on it right now, she's telling me to spend more time with her :screwy: . I might be new here but I am here often.

Sometimes AF flashes and sends 5 or 6 instant messages of the same thread update at the same time, if you know what I mean. Aaaargggg, it's so anoying!

Hi, guys! I understand all that you've said, because I feel the same...:screwy::smokin:
But there's something sure: when I leave home to meet some friends of mine, and take a beer (or 5 or 9 or more beers...) and discuss all night long and have fun and meet other people that come from all over the world (in Paris, France, you can meet people that come from all over the world!) and laugh and have a pizza and leave that pub at 8.00 a.m and have a walk along the empty streets, well, I can say to you AF is very far and like being everywhere but where I want to be...:loser:

Real life is really worth it!

But it's so difficult to stop smoking, so difficult to stop AF-ing...:screwy::disappoin

I'll try real life again tomorrow... :evillol:

Chinese or not, I wish everybody a wondefull year- with no resolution! lol!

Hi. I'm Antonio. I'm seriously addicted to AF. I would get more models built if I could stay away. I can't. Instead, I buy more models because I see all of the great work other modellers do. I tried to stop. they made me a moderator. Now I have an excuse to be here all the time. I should be building right now. I'd rather browse the forums. Please help me. I need help. I don't think anyone can help me. :crying:

There needs to be a sub-forum, AFA (Automotive Forums Anonymous). Help each other out getting off the horse, 13-steps, etc. Well, that's assuming you want to end the addiction. Me, I'm happier this way. :iceslolan

When i came here a few years back i got the bug real bad and spent many along day on here.
Lately though, i've managed to cut back because i was getting less done on other things and spending less time on other projects.
I limit myself to 1 hour on the net now in a effort to get other things done.
When i visit AF now, i mostly just read all the posts in the modelling form without replying.
