STS Low Oil Pressure

Just got this message on Sunday "Stop Engine Low Oil Pressure" car was running good all day. I went inside a store came back out 15 minutes later and the message appear. Oil level was fine, the engine is making some sounds. I look inside the oil filler to see if I see oil spurting out the rods and no oil. I thought perhaps it was the oil pump, however in other forums I am being told that the oil pump rarely goes bad. Any ideas would be great. Thanks
