Instrument Panel Doesn't Work

Hey Everybody!

I have a 300Watt Crunch Amp hooked up with 2 Infinity Subs. I have had the Amp installed for over a year and a 1/2. Just today I added the Infinity Subs. (*went from Kenwood, to Infinity*). I rode down the street and smelled something burning and i thought it was my amp but my subs were still working. When I went to the store and then got back in my car i noticed my Instrument Panel wasn't working. It lit up but the Speedometer, Tacometer, Gas Gauge, and everything didn't work, the PRND321 wasn't displayed nor the Mileage.

Anybody have an clue what happened or Why it happened? I am guessing its just a fuse.

Thanks!

If you smelled something burning that's not good. Fuses don't usually make a burning smell, they just pop. A burning smell usually comes from a wire or circuit board. It still would be a good idea to check the fuses, something killed power to the instrument panel. More than likely it had something to do with your installation. I would back track everything you did on your installation. Good luck.

Here's something. This afternoon I got in my car to take it to Chevy to have them fix it, since I still have the warrenty on the car. And all the gauges work and everything as if nothing had happened.

Any idea on that?

The amp isn't connected to anything in the car that would mess up. The Power is straight from the battery, the RCA & Remote wire was hooked up by a professional at some car place. I do however have after market fogg lights on my car. Those as well I had installed by Freeman's Road Gear.

Thanks!

My gf's father's 2002 TB inst. cluster went out once too and his is just stock with no mods. Didn't take it to a dealer...and it hasn't done it again...but I would be worried about the burning smell. That definitely shouldn't be happening.

hey, it turned out to be just a simple computer upgrade. There was is some sort of glitch in the software in the computer and so they just upgraded it. They look at the wires in my car and didn't find anything burned or out of order. I am guessing it was the POS car in front of me but you should get him to take his in to get it upgraded.

I put a post up a few days ago, and had the same problem but without the burning smell. They had to put two instrument clusters before one would read correctly for every guage. One would have the temperature wrong, and one had the voltmeter reading wrong even though they manualy checked both with individual guages.Keep your eye on your individual readings.Thank God I have a Platinum extended warranty

Have not had my panel go "out" but my air bag warning light will stay on after start up sometimes. The dealer says there are no codes to show what may be wrong. Anyone else have this problem?

I Had The Same Problem When The Engine Was Washed............

Try Unpluging All Fuses And Relays Inside The Hood Box, And Try Reconecting Plugs Without Disconecting.............

It Could Work, It Did In My Case...........

I have had the air bag thing happen. Dealer checked and no codes so according to him all is well. I wonder.

All my guages have completely quit working. I had the eratic guage problem last year and took it in to be reprogramed. I don't think it's a programming problem this time, it looks more like I lost power to the panel.

Can anyone tell me how to get to the Instrument cluster?

I was driving it to the dealer to have them look at it this morning, a 40 mile drive, and I got off the freeway about 1/2 mile from the dealer and stoped at a stop sign and all of a sudden the cluster came alive. All the lights and guages acted like it had just been started up. I left it with the dealer to catch up on all the recalls and to see if they could come up with an explanation for the cluster problem. They called a few minutes ago and said they couldn't find any problem.. :banghead:
