EEEK! Car overheated!! help.....

I knew my engine was leaking coolant (cuz when paul and I swapped, we had a larger hose than my car needed)....

I drove to the bank today... It was about 0 degrees. I have been watchin my temp needle more than usual since i knew of the leak... I know all hondas needle are ALWAYS a lil under halfway when the engine is warmed up.. I noticed it moving very slowly, went to about half.. I was like "o shit, cant let it go like that too much, alum heads warp like wood in a sauna..." So i put on my defrost so my fan would kick in, turned the heat up to try and do somethign. Then the needly went up to a lil less than 3/4 the way up in about .5 secs. So I shut the engine off and coasted. i didnt see any steam or smoke the whole time... I had radiator fluid in my trunk... SO i filled it up with JUST coolant(i know yer suposed to do 50/50, but hey, id rather have my engine bee too cold then too hot) And now the radiator is full. I fixed the leak (i tighend the clamp enough to it dont leak) My car runs fine now.. i am just wondering, what level wil cause the head to warp? Like the needle is halfway, or 3/4 way, or all the way up to the red hot zone? And for how long to do a lot of damage? I dont think i did any, since my engine runs the same.... Id like some help pleaze...

your engine is fine, but you shouldn't drive it very often until you get it fixed. Driving broken cars is not :cool:

you'll be fine Jess. I don't remember about a leak....I'll Take a look at it when I see you again. Fuck, my motor and head gasket blew and my head was fine....

remember.... u gave me a clamp for the TOP hose that connects to the radiator? Remember those hose from the teg engine is larger than the dx's.. You gave me a clamp.... And the reason we didnt notice it leaking was because my car was on a level surface. It leaks out from the top of the radiator where the hose is. When my car is on an angle, leaning back. It seaps through where the hose connects to the radiator... So when I refilled the radiator.... I loosened up the clamp you gave me, and the put the hose up higher , and clamped it really tight(not enough to cut the hose) and now it doesnt seam to leak...

what motor did you blow?

ok tonight my car was idling weird. I started my engine, it went up to 2k like usual to warm up.. Ten it went to 2500, then down to 1500, then 2500, then 1500. Ands did that till it got warm. Then my temp gauge went about halkfway-3/4 way up, I shut off the engine, and srtopped. Then this white smoke came from my hood... I looked under there, I think it was coolant dripped onto the radiator os tumin. After the gnien cooled down. I started ti back up, the idle was fine and it saounds fine again. Could me having too much coolant and not enough water cause that?

today i started my car, and it was idling 2400, then down to 1500, on and on like that till thrt engine got to its normal warming spot. Then it stopped doing that, and then my temp gauge went up to half.. I put on my defrost again... and it went to normall for like 2 secs, then went up to 3/4 way up to hot. So i shut off my engine. As I started to brake I saw some white steam ro sumtin go from where my radiator is.. I looked under there, i think its just from some coolant i dripped onto the fan guard earlier yesterday. It runs fine, but keeps overheating.. Do you think haveing too much coolant, not enough water would do that?

it might be a vaccum leak, might've jsut started because when I was there, there was no problems...I'll check it out when we meet again. AS for the hose and rdiator, go to home deopt and grab some rubber o-rings that will fit both the radiator outlet and the hose inlet....
