A 2000 4.3L.....compared to the small block Chevy engine....I am assuming that the 4.3 is a small block V8 missing 2 cylinders.....if one follows a regular maintenance on it (oil, antifreeze, etc) how durable are these engines ?
What kind of mileage can one expect ?
Thanks !

My brother had an 89 S10, with about 190000 on it, and he drove that thing into the ground. Still ran no problem. small things like the starter were starting to go, but that's not the engine's problem.
Actually, now that I think about it. That wasn't a vortec (by name).
My other brother has a 97 Jimmy, with about 150,000. That truck had a couple of problems, with injectors and what not, but other than that, it is still going strong.
My truck, which is a 96 Blazer (as stated in sig) has almost 102,000. Only thing wrong with it so far, is an oil leak in the drain plug. That's nothing, though.
From my experience, I'd have to say, it's a very dependable engine.

Knock on wood but I would say its a good motor, the injectors and starters are bit of a bother, but as for the block I thinks its good. Mine has around 145000 miles, knock on wood again mine is still running strong. I've heard about people with 350,000kms, on them which works out to about 200,000 miles.
