With some mods you could. All it takes is money and almost any car can be fast.

JUST a b16? If so, he's bullshitting you HARD.

Stock SiR-II hatches in Japan come with 170hp b16s stock, with an LSD, and you can even get it with a JaSpec 4-1 header. Those cars don't run close to 13's, and barely break 14's with good driving.

I would watch-out for shops that would lie to you like that.

I've seen a crx running 13's with a stock b18c1 (well...exaust and filter) and just minor suspension mods...but thats a lighter car with a more powerful engine setup sooo....

Assuming stock interior, and good driving, you have the potential to run a 14.4 give or take. Now when I say potential, I mean potential.

Don't be too disheartened if you run a 15.2 or so. I've seen it.

You will never be running mid 13s with a b16 on a hatch. Even with NA mods you wont get there...

And if you did, it definitely wouldn't be street legal.

ok i know you guys are all being honest but it makes me really sad to hear i cant run 13's with a b16 and it still be street legal!!!!!!!well guys thanks for the input i am still gettin a b16 other then i/h/e what are easy power upgrades cam gears and crap like that??? any advice is helpful.

Be sure to realize that they were talking about running 13's naturally aspirated....you could run 11's on a b16 wiht a turbo and still remain (mostly) street legal.

ok how dependable would it be to put a turbo on a b16 wuld the motor need rebuilt after 50k. and lets say i get a b16 and like 8 months later i can afford to turbo does it need rebuilt befor a turbo goes on it???

I think you're getting into the technical side of things.

IT means he'll whip it out unless you lay down some facts bout the car...could be half way feasible if its running slicks, but thats still pushin it....List the specs and he might leave yah alone.

IT depends on how rough you are with it and how good of care (maintence) you take with it. You probably wouldnt need a rebuilt after 50k, just a good tuneup and inspection.

joebowlr21
01-24-2004, 07:46 PM
i would say it doesn't need a rebuilt. The b16a is a very durably motor to work with.Buddy of mine throw a 2nd gen b16a (170hp stock) with a t3/t4 turbo setup boostin 10lbs on stock internals.Only modification was a S-AFCII to tune it.Ran a 13.5 with horrible wheel spin in 1st an 2nd gear on some street legal azenis. The car finaly blow a piston ring after 2 years of abuse and is no being fitting with some forged JE pistons new cam gears, camshaft, ITR oil pump,skunk2 TB, bigger inectors, and hondata.Should run 12's easy when it's done in a few weeks.

There's all kinds of bullshit being thrown around in here... Your B16(A2 I'm assuming) will send you down the line in a 15.1-15.5, with the i/h/e crap. You'll doubtfully see 14's, and you'll never see 13's. Period. Turbocharge that engine and you could see 13's with 6-9psi, but have fun paying for/tuning that.

ibsixubnine03, you're getting your info by word of mouth from a girl saying she put a lil nitrous kit on her stock crx and all of a sudden is faster than an evo8 by half a second. Unless you've seen it for yourself, shut the fuck up.

Built with what though? High compression pistons, forged internals, blah blah blah, then what, he has a B16B with a bit more juice. A built N/A B16A2 will probably only offer about 200-220hp. This kid is asking about a stock engine in a stock car.

Whats up guys...i think it could be possible for a b16 to run mid to high 13's. I have spend much time in AF, but my boy from back home had a b16 swapped into his 94 coupe civ, with a gsr tranny, and if u guys have seen how hard this setup pulls...its F'n amazing. I've watch him put whoopins on GTI's and GS-t's. If u can....go with the b16 motor and gsr tranny....it runs. :smokin:

It'll run 13's with a stock B16. If the engine is stock and it's running 13's, then the car must have a good driver/light chassis/good traction.

Either way...I don't give a rat's ass.

It's possible to run low 13's to mid 12's i've done it. I have an '89 CRX JDM spec B16a, Greddy exhaust AEM Short Ram, 18's, full body kit shaved door handles, and shaved rear quater window, my car weighs around 1500 pound and the best I ran was a 12.6 ET in best conditions, it is possible but on a lighter car not yours.

EVEN thouhg ive allready posted in another thread saying he's full of poop, i have more material here:

you say your car weighs in at ABOUT 1500, YET you have 18's and a full body kit? Those rims would last about 3 seconds in a CRX tirewell! Oh the moronisism!

you forgot that the car has been worked on to be perfect. KYB shocks tokico springs and it has been dropped two inches. The weight of the car is for real it has been completely gutted only interior items are Monster 5" tach with shift light pioneer head unit and 2 Custom seats with CRX stitched across the top. no AIR CONDITIONER, only heater. The 18's on the car are for flash and the girls, one thing that you have to understand is that I am 17 years olde and the car was given to me like that and I love it.

A fully gutted CRX won't weigh less than 1800 LBS. And if you get rims just to impress girls...then you're a loser.

You were stupid enough to believe me when I said 11? Idiot. I'm 18. And new york street-racing sucks ass. "you learn that the competition is crazy and the rims is the first process by which you can do to set your car off"...first of all, learn how to put a decent sentance together. Second...around here, it's not the size of your rims, it's the number on your time-slip that does the talkin. Hell, even quartermile times don't matter anymore, for REAL racing, like canyon racing, or road-racing...you need skill. Read my sig and maybe you'll get some sense put into you, junior.
