Yo, i was thinkin bout gettin a new car and tradin in my 97 rs but im not sure what to get... im lookin at the acura rsx's but i dont think i would get a new one, prolly just a certified used. and i was also lookin at the nissan SE-R's too.. what would be the better choice? if you have any ideas please tell me...i want a good car that would last a long time and would take mods good, peace.

The rsx is a better car but if your lookin for more room and a bigger trunk the se r is a better choice.

You can get a decent GSX with decent miles for, what, 7000-7500? Maybe cheaper.

dsmtuners.com i think it is has a list of mods that will get you to 300 hp and 400 hp VERY easily, if you can do the tuning yourself. Cost is very low as well.

However, if you're dead set against an Eclipse, try a V6 TT like a 3000gt-Stealth, 300zx, they have a LOT of potential.

Huh?

Really I think this post is misleading in more ways than I can count.

The only GSX that will go for the amount you quoted is maybe like a '95 with tons of miles on it or I dunno what. But a decent one like you quoted youself would probably run closer to 10G+ easy. If it was 7G's, thats what I would of bought. :D

Secondly I'm no expert, but I know hitting 400whp isn't something that is "VERY easily" (ie. easy). Also 300 and 400 is a big difference.

I won't waste more time replying to this as this was probably not a very serious reply to begin with.

Get a 300ZX TT 5speed, 91-95 model. Great cars and lots of potential.

But I would go with the RSX if i were you. Get the factory apperance package minus the wing. They look so nice with no wing at all. A black one or a white one would be the best IMO. Great cars, and quite a bit of power. Make sure you get a Type-S tho. It really does make a difference.

Happy buying

yea i really like the rsx's and the price difference between the type s and the regular isnt much difference

im tryin to find somethin that i can have through college which will be bout 6 or so years and i can keep adding mods little by little as i get the money and would last that long. i would really like to have a gst or gsx but you cant really find them without that many miles and theyre pretty expensive being used an all

smokeurass
01-22-2004, 01:08 PM
The rsx is a piece-o-shit. It is way over priced and you wont be able to make high hp. The parts are expensive n everything. The only honda/acura i would ever buy is s2k.

Go with a gsx, whether or not it has high miles.

High miles has nothing to do with the car, you have to look at the condition of the car.

I looked for my car for about 4 months, you just have to keep lookin.

The 95 gsx will be about maybe you can get a deal. A 97 will sell for maby 7500, thats not even close to your 20k rsx, plus with the stuff u said you wanna do. If your in collage, how you gonna pay for all that.

Go wit gsx.

Decent miles means lower than 150, not lower than 50. I was wrong a bit, I guess. I dunno. I define things loosely. If you're looking for HP stock, for cheap, go with a SRT-4. If you want a new car.

95 GSX prone to crankwalk. Dont get one.

Go with the RSX, you CAN make gobs of power out of the K series engine. I have seen 350whp on a Type-S. They are reliable, fun to drive, look pretty nice.

But really, why do you need high hp? You cant use it on the street.

^ Have you ever driven an RSX Type-S, or an S2000? To tune an S2000 it would cost MUCH more than an RSX. The parts are far more expensive. Also you basicly have no room in one. So an RSX is a good comprimise of performance, and functionality. And please elaborate on what makes the RSX a "piece-of-shit".

yeah, u most be smokin something to call the RSX "A piece of shit"...there are other cars besides DSMs that are good out there. the rsx is a nice car for a reasonable price [24,000]. it can make pretty good power, but mods do tend to be on the exspensive side. An Eclipse will last u a long time, if your lucky...so your better off getting something more reliable. try a Civic maybe?

My girlfriend got an RSX TS for her b-day. Theres nothing special about it, its another car, way overpriced. You could just buy a honda and swap the motor. Honestly, wut is it about the RSX that makes worth the buy, nothing. You've seen 350 hp, pfff. Get a EVO. Get a supra, damn.

The s2000 is a work of art. Everything on it can literally be swapped for carbon fiber. You wont even need power mods. Yes it is expensive, but when you compare the amount you spend for the rsx to the s2000 with power to weight ratio in mind, the s2000 wins, by far.

My father owns an S2000, silver with CF hood, fenders, trunk, hardtop, coilovers, mugen intake, mugen ECU.
It is fast, and great to drive. But practical??? Hardly.

The RSX has much more space. And for someone going to collage this is a good thing. Room to shag:)

No dought about it, s2000 is an awsome car, cut the RSX is much more suited to daily driving. You can shag in the s2000, i know for a fact, but there isnt quite enough room to get cunfeeee.

GSX's aren't that cheap guys. I have been looking and the cheepest 2gB's are like $14k. Even GST's in my area w/ <70k miles are around $13-14. But I would side w/ most of the people in here and say '4G63' ! :)

umm i dont know if u guys noticed but the guy who origianly posted never said he was concidering buying an eclipse. He said hes trading one in. lol

macavelli04
01-23-2004, 12:00 AM
yea thats tru i want somethin that wont be ridiculous on insurance too, since the s2000 has only 2 seats and no back seat i think it would be more than the rsx, also i want somethin that i can lightly mod because since im goin to college i wont have that much money to put on my car, im just lookin for a used one with low miles, somethin that looks good and isnt slow like my eclipse,

You can get a decent 2G GSX for around 11g's. The Picture in 89Turbo944 is my car. I spent a lot of money into it and am pushing well over 500whp. But as Sevren stated you can make them fast for not too much money. A real deal would be to get a 1g GSX or TSI and do it up.

damn....alot of mods there dont ya think.,. i have an eclipse rs now but it has a lot of miles on it and i dont wanna take a chance of breakin down on me, i tried to look for a gst or gsx in my area and i cant find any at all,

SOURCE1064

Well another option you have is buying another rs or gs and just building that motor and getting a turbo kit if you still want to stay with an eclipse. A friend of my built up his rs and easily takes out stock bottom end eclipses with big 16g turbos. My car was the first car I owned and turned into a small obsession. Now it's a street strip sleeper besides the plates. My GSX is definitely one of the best cars I have owned. The AWD traction is awesome and is very helpful in races. I also have a 2002 M3 and my Eclipse takes it off the line and proceeds to run circles around it. FWD turbos are nice but one of the most powerful fwd dsm’s which has 611whp only runs low 11’s due to traction problems. If I were you I’d shop around and see what comes up if you are not in a rush to get a new car. Sometimes a change is nice.

macavelli04
01-23-2004, 12:43 AM
yea, i was plannin on gettin it after winter, i live in wv so the winters are pretty bad, i thought bout gettin a new eclipse but i heard it was too much money to get a turbo for and i would have to replace the pistons and a bunch of other stuff.. you heard anything about the RSX's?

SOURCE1064
01-23-2004, 12:56 AM
I don't know too much about the rsx's. I've driven one, they are light and very nice. Another car you might want to look at is a celica. Depending on how much you want to spend you an EVO,WRX, or WRX STI are too good choices. The regular WRX's tranny's aren't too strong though so when heavily modded they break.

macavelli04
01-23-2004, 01:07 AM
yea i test drove a wrx, theyre fast i was thinkin bout a celica but my friend has one and ya kno cant have the same car. i heard alot of good things about a rsx plus i like the way the look

smokeurass
01-23-2004, 10:20 AM
This is funny.

The rsx is about 20k, why dont you mention some real cars. EVO 8, supra, with a little more $, a R32. Those are the cars you should be lookin at. The rsx is garbage. Celica? WTF? Only if your road racing.

macavelli04
01-23-2004, 11:11 AM
04 evo 8 $29,000, 97 supra $50,000, used rsx $17000. thats why....im goin to college, im only 18, and i dont wanna have a beefy ass car payment every month so i think the rsx is good for that reason

smokeurass
01-23-2004, 02:10 PM
hrm....

well there are other EVO's besides the 04's. You didnt mention used EVO's price? And a 97 supra is not even close to 50k. :disappoin Try around 20-25. You can get a lower year model too.

W/e, i just realized its a bad idea to convince you. I wouldnt wanna see a supra go to waist. Go fer RSX ;) :smokin:

macavelli04

why there gotta be hatas? insurance is a big factor too...i kno you can find other ones than new ones, but the insurance on a evo would be ridiculous. there is supras that are 50000 and close.. look here... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=154410704&dealer_id=1357597&car_year=1998&make=TOYOTA&distance=any&max_price=&model=SUPRA&end_year=2005&advcd_on=n&min_price=&address=29730&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1995&color=&cardist=341 http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=147814228&dealer_id=77824&car_year=1997&make=TOYOTA&distance=any&max_price=&model=SUPRA&end_year=2005&advcd_on=n&min_price=&address=29730&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1995&color=&cardist=466
i dont want one with 100,000 miles on it either the cheapest evo i found was a 2003 for 28000$. money wont be a thing after college tho

Id watch what you say. You dont want to piss off everyone. They can help you or jsut make you life hell on here.

So far you seem to have rubed off the wrong way on people. I have had a few PM convos about you and they were not the nicest comments i have heard. I dont really have a problem with you.
