my shift knob on my 95 bird is not in the best of conditions, so i bought a new knob and went to replace it, but i couldnt get it to unscrew... i know most shift knobs just thread right on i've replaced a bunch of them for my friends, but are they different on the f-bodies? did GM glue them or something?

Nope, not glued, just tightened down. They come off with a little gusto behind it. Lefty Loosey Righty Tighty...

My knob seems to be seperated from the nut that goes on the shift bar. Try sqeezing the shifter knob tight while your turning. Mine would just turn and turn but wouldnt come off.

The procedure gentlemen:

A) Put your parking brake on, and park on a level surface

B)Turn your key forward but do not start the engine

C)With your foot on the brake pedal pull the shifter back to 1, or 2. (Assuming this is auto here)

D)You will see a little clip jammed in at the bottom of the front of the shifter now.

E)Pull it out with needle nose pliers or pop it out with a screwdriver

The shifter comes right off. Secure it down using either screws enclosed or reuse the clip if it can be used.
