INCON twin turbo

Has anyone here gotten the INCON,(or any other twin turbo) on their 98+ trans am?? I really am looking into this, but want to talk to someone who has installed TT on their LS 1 before I get too involved. It sounds pretty good to me. ~10,000 and you are knocking on the 600HP door. A few more mods, and you can turn up the boost... Can anyone say 700HP?? :flash:

Yes I've seen the kit installed on a 2000 Firehawk.
Very badass kit.
He was pushing somewhere in the area of like 590rwhp on stock internals. Stock rods, crank, pistons, cam, heads. This winter he's throwing on a "Turbo Grind" cam and a set of free flowing heads and probably some stronger rods/pistons to handle the boost.
He was running high 10s last I saw, so with the added mods he should be a solid 10 sec. car.
Only downside is that there's like a 6-8 month waiting list for a kit.
PS- Take a look at ATI's Procharger if you're interested in the Forced Induction route. They're easier to install and a lot of people have gotten em and LOVE em!

Did he upgrade his suspension? I thought that kind of horsepower would through that car all over the road without it.
That twin turbo kit on that LS1 engine makes it one fast ass car.

I believe he did get a new differential (one of the F-Body's weak points) as well as a FEW small suspension parts (subframe connectors, and lower control arms).
The car is seriously fast, and he is now going with a custom ground cam to help the turbos force air thru the motor, as well as a set of cylinder heads to flow more air.
The car is going to be a BEAST. If only it was an automatic with a Yank ST3500 stall...It would be CRAZY FAST!
I'm curious to see how long the engine block stays together.
It's stock aluminum block/pistons/rods/crank!
I think he's upgrading to forged rods/pistons, but even then, at the power level he's at, it's pushing it!

What about gas?? I know you can still run pump gas, but how bad does the mpg go down? As long as it doesn't push it below 12mpg I can live with it.

You may only drop 1 or 2 MPG....
IF that....
That's only when you're racin it though.
Under normal cruisin, the gas mileage will remain the same.

So just to get things straight for ~$7-$10 G's you can build a 550-600 HP beast that gets 20-25 MPG? :flash: Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!
O.k. Next question.
Heres the situation. I graduate this spring FINALLY and plan on getting a 99 trans am. I haven't decided between a manual or an automatic, but will probably need a standard because I think it would probably hold up better at 550-600 hp. I am almost certain that I want to get the incon twin turbo setup, and in order to plan my finances, I now need to do research on what I will have to do ot teh car to make it dependable at such high horsepower. here is my list so far.
In General just beef up the following components:
rear end
tranny
driveshaft
pistons
rods
crank**don't know yet if that is necessary..
cam**have heard it is better not to do this..
z rated tires(duh)
Do you think There is anything missing in my list? Also, do you think it is feasable to get away with doing this beefing up job for ~$5,000
I really don't trust myself to try and do any of this myself, because this will be my baby.

The Incon kit is much cheaper then you may think.
If I were you, I'd go with an automatic, it's cheaper to "build" it and will net you much better track times, especially with the turbo.
Here's the things you can address and what you'll need for it to hold up under the extra turbo power:
Transmission: Buy an FLP Level 4 4L60E Transmission with a Yank ST3500 stall.
Cost: Approx $2100 (installed)
Rear End: Buy a GM 12-Bolt with 3.73 gears
Cost: Approx $2400 (installed)
In order to net the best times, you'll also want to look into:
BMR Subframe connectors
Cost: $170 (installed)
16x8 Rims with M/T ET Streets
Cost: $600
HAL Front Shocks/Springs
Cost: $500
